How Long Should I Cook It For? Let Your Hotpoint Oven Decide

We’ve all been there - standing in the kitchen, wondering if dinner’s ready or if it needs a few more minutes. Whether it’s chicken for a weekday meal, salmon for a special occasion, or a tray of sizzling sausages, getting the timing right is the key to perfect results. With Hotpoint’s smart cooking technology, you don’t have to guess. Your oven can calculate the exact cooking time, so you get food that’s cooked through, juicy, and full of flavour, every time.

How Long to Cook Chicken Breast in the Oven

Cooking chicken breast can be tricky. Too short and it’s undercooked, too long and it’s dry.

As a general guide, we recommend:

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts: 20-25 minutes at 200°C (fan-assisted), depending on thickness.
  • Bone-in chicken breasts: 30-35 minutes at the same temperature.

If you’ve ever searched how long to cook chicken breast in oven, you’ll know there are lots of variations.

The benefit of a Hotpoint oven with a Meat Probe is that it monitors the core temperature of your meat, so there’s no need to open the oven door. Once the desired temperature is reached, the oven automatically switches off, ensuring perfectly cooked, tender joints of meat that the whole family will enjoy. That means no more guesswork, and no more overcooked chicken either.

How Long to Cook Chicken Breast with Hotpoint’s Air Fry Oven Function

Hotpoint ovens with the Air Fry function make cooking chicken breast quick, easy, and delicious - without the need for a separate appliance.

  • Boneless breasts: 15-18 minutes at 180°C.

With the Air Fry function, your chicken achieves a golden, crispy finish thanks to even heat distribution, while leaving plenty of room in the oven for other dishes. It’s perfect when cooking for more than one or two people. Plus, the oven-sized Air Fry tray is dishwasher-safe, making clean-up simple and hassle-free.

Enjoy healthier, crispy meals while keeping your kitchen decluttered and efficient.

How Long to Cook Salmon in the Oven

Salmon is delicate, so timing matters. For perfect results every time:

  • Fillets: 12-15 minutes at 200°C
  • Whole side of salmon: 20-25 minutes, depending on thickness

Salmon should flake easily with a fork when it’s done. Hotpoint ovens with pre-set fish programmes take care of both timing and temperature, ensuring perfectly cooked salmon while giving you more time to focus on sides or sauces.

Or try the Active Steam function on our Hotpoint ovens. By adding a precise amount of moisture to the oven, Active Steam helps lock in flavour and nutrients, keeping salmon tender and succulent. Simply fill the extractable drawer with water and select one of three automatic steam settings - whether you’re cooking fish, meat, vegetables, bread, or desserts, Hotpoint makes it easy to achieve perfectly cooked, nutritious meals every time.

How Long to Cook Sausages in the Oven

Sausages are a staple food item in the UK, but how do you cook them so that they are juicy inside with a crisp skin? We recommend:

20-25 minutes at 200°C, turning halfway through

If you’re batch cooking, Hotpoint’s Active Multiflow system ensures heat is evenly distributed across every shelf. That means sausages on the bottom rack will be just as perfectly cooked as those on the top.

Why Let Your Oven Decide?

Every cut of meat and every fillet of fish is slightly different. Size, thickness, and starting temperature can all affect the cooking time. That’s why Hotpoint’s cooking technology is designed to:

  • Monitor internal food temperature
  • Adjust cooking time automatically
  • Ensure even heat distribution so every bite is consistent

Having an oven, you can rely on is the simplest way to take the stress out of cooking. It’s also a reliable way to make sure food is safe to eat, while still being full of flavour.

Tips for Best Results from Your Hotpoint Oven, Every Time

  • Use the right setting: Hotpoint ovens have dedicated functions for poultry, fish, and more.
  • Don’t overcrowd the tray: Give food space so heat and air circulate properly
  • Check the core temperature: For chicken, it should reach 75°C; for fish, 63°C is ideal.
  • Rest your meat: Let chicken or sausages rest for a few minutes to lock in juices
